Geilo as a winter destination. Oen turistcentre, around 2.5k from centre, staff friendly, negotiated solus use of cabin at 380nk per night. Small cooker and fridge, no running water or loo, these facilities 30m away and all good together with hot showers. Downhill ski fairly limited, good location for x country with possibilities to connect to DNT huts either by trails or short train or bus ride. Not much at all in the way of nightlife. Snow conditions excellent with a number of fresh falls during my early March stay. Temperature day around freezing, some sunny days, overnight down to minus 17. Although must houses have chimneys I couldn’t see any smoking so assume all electrical heating. I could cook ok with a budget of around 150nk a day, buying from local spar shop. Horror was six pack Somersby sweet monkey pi## cider 256nk, 4.5pc. Yuck. No spirit’s or wine on sale in spar. Expensive but in a really superb part of Norway.
