Probably due to strong northerly winds the height of tide in river was lower than anticipated. Despite thigh deep mud squelching Jan and I managed to paint Hull of his ship with antifouling and refit bigger anodes during one low tide. This task needed to be done and the ship refloated so as to clear the ramp for Dick’s barge. At present we are after spring tides (these give the highest and lowest height of tide) but Jan was not able to get afloat. We will try again this evening to refloat when, with less strong northerly winds the river water level will be higher. However the water level is insufficient to take the barge out, probably until the next springs in two weeks time. The other inponderable is rain. If it should rain heavily the river level may be high enough to slip.
