Don’t know much about how to this “properly” but I think it’s a question of best efforts. The metal is a light alloy. I had some etch primer so a rub down and paint. Top coat will be what I have by me rather than getting all the recommended by googley stuff. what’s the worst that can happen? It will all come off right away.
