I started doing detailed passage plan based on day sail to Norderney and looked at the height of the tide for a projected 18-1900 arrival time. The charted depths at lowest astronomical tide (LAT) actually show no entry possible (we are coming into spring tide) with just 19Cm of depth above LAT. Charted depths on my Navionics show 1.1M on Schlucter entrance and 2M on the northern Dove Tief approach. Wave heights and swell make this unattractive.
Plan is to leave Lauwersoog around mid day, ride the tide down the channel and overnight up to Heligoland. If the cloud layer thins out I should get some decent moonlight which always makes things more enjoyable!
Arrived Helgoland 06:30, mostly motoring as wind died but here anyway. Usual business, you want to tie up next to another boat (that’s the only option) and the crew pop heads out and say we are leaving shortly. Musical boats.
