Fixing the snag

So, oil drained, anode off, bearing carrier removed and shaft pulled out. Old seals out and new oil and water seals in having respect for the shims that control the backlash between crown and pinion gears. Cone races seem in good condition, perhaps 3-4% pitting on faces of cones. A bit of time cleaning up the fasteners and thread holes; the online postings report significant number of propellers falling off and no torque settings for the rotating parts. Do em up good and tight is the advice. I’ll fit the prop and tighten down with blue loctite and once that has set add the central lock bolt again with loctite. Fingers crossed.

You can just see new seal in place. A fair amount of drifting in with lump hammer!
