The wires that run between pulpit and pushpit are slack meaning A. When you grab hold they give a fair amount. B. Putting fenders on is slightly more difficult with slack wires. C. Top reason, the radar mast is poorly fitted. I think if I can get some tension into the pull and pushpit I’ll be able to use this to better brace the radar.
The engine control panel cover needs doing, has Horrid rusty little hinges so an inox piano hinge seems to be the way. Not sure how easy fitting it will be, little self tappers, 90 degree angle drill, masking tape etc. We shall see but it has been on the to do list since I bought the ship…
The safety wires that run fire and aft used to be slack. No more. Either they have stretched over time or? Anyway, tried up tight is easier to lean on, supports the stanchions better, is easier to hang and adjust fenders on but! The radar mast is wobbly as is the pushpit so, a bit of equal and opposite pull has tightened the latter sufficiently to allow its use to brace the mast!
The choice of shortening the wires by re-terminating was, possibly available but my solution is lower cost plus it allows the possibility of quick detachment of the top wire (knife) if needed. I suppose the obvious one is recoverey of MOB situation. Anyway ticked off.
