Laying up Bara Vi

A lot of jobs to do! Today oil and filter change plus new diesel filter. The fuel filter is a pain to do but I am getting better at it, issue is the deep tank and the puny lift pump which takes ages to get even a little fuel to be pulled up. So, clamp on the rubber tube to stop it flowing back into the tank and fill the new filter through the bleed screw. Seems good, ran for a bit and watched temperature climb to almost the red. I’ve been watching this behaviour during river cruise and it’s not unexpected. Tomorrow I’ll drain down primary and clean the circulation pump; this picks up metal swarf or rust from the block and I suspect it will be fouled. Sucked out almost all fuel with a copper tube and a Lidl pump which just managed to suck, quite a lot of dirt in the bottom and quite a lot of agro to get it to work but mostly a clean tank. I’ll clean primary cooling circuit with acid tomorrow and if I can get to it the secondary too, then pull thermostat and clean pump, try it! Instruments off the ship as in particular the forward looking sonar is susceptible to damp. Mini motoring mast to come off, domestic water to pump out and add water tablets to the inevitable last inch in the tank; it’ll need filling and flushing next season. Water pumps for sinks to fill with anti freeze (they are expensive to replace). I plan on lifting out Monday morning so a lot to do tomorrow. Once ashore I need to use a dekzeil or tarpaulin to cover her up, remove and wash the spray hood and…. It’s a lot to do but some of the horrible jobs complete.
